This Year's General Theme

In 2015, newly-elected President Joko Widodo announced the 35.000 Megawatt (“MW”) power plant development program for sustainable development in the hopes to support the nation’s development through constructing power plants across Indonesia with a total wattage of 35.000 MW. As adequate supply of electrical power is a basic infrastructure, we believe it is one of the preconditions in obtaining optimum national economic development as it plays a major role in supporting accelerated economic growth.

The unfulfillment of the 35.000 MW power plant development program is caused by various reasons in which we believe one of the reasons is the legal aspect in undergoing a power plant project itself. Considering this, we decided to raise the theme “The Role of Power Plant Projects Towards Indonesia’s Economic Development Through the Scope of Indonesian Business Law”. Through The 11th BLC 2021, we hope to familiarize the competition delegates with the procedures and actions taken throughout the entirety of a power plant project from a legal aspect as well as enhance their competence and analytical skills regarding legal problems that arise throughout a power plant project.
